Located about 3.5 hours west of Austin, TX, you can discover the best of Texas camping at Kickapoo Cavern State Park. Our staff at Dependable Camper Rentals chose to feature Kickapoo Cavern State Park due to its unique caving opportunities and other park attractions.

Park Features

The most notable features of Kickapoo Cavern State Park are the 20 known caves, which include Kickapoo Cavern and Stuart Bat Cave. The park even offers tours on Saturdays (reservation only). We recommend that if you’re visiting the park over the weekend that you try to take advantage of this cave tour. Note that the cave is undeveloped, so expect rough terrain. It’s great for those expecting a rugged hike, but if you were hoping for more of a leisurely walk, this tour may not be a good choice. Other activities you can enjoy within the park include:
  • Picnicking
  • Mountain biking
  • Bird-watching
  • Bat viewing (in season)
  • Hiking
The state park also has a campground with electric, water, and sewer hookups. It also has on-site fire pits, modern restrooms, a picnic table, and more. Note, however, that the campground is small; the park has only a few full-service sites. So you will do well to book your campsite in advance to ensure you have a spot.
